I : Prologue

I'm alone in this cage. Cold and hungry. But blessed with warmth by the blanket of love that she gave me, only from her. No one else. I smile and proud of her hot beautiful lips. The kiss still burning on my lips. The face still painted beautifully in my heart. I could go after her, but she's never meant for me. Never.

This cage is big for me, but too small for one's memory. Those memories will gonna live forever, almost eternity. No doubt and it's doubtless. No fear and it's fearless. No regrets and it's regretless. Meaningful and not meaningless.

What I have been through for years is what I have become. The person who owns me, the person who acts and knows me, and that person who owns me is me. No one else. No one else.

It begins in 1994, march 21st to be exact. That moment, from that second, I was attracted to her. Her smile. Her perfume. The smell of her hair which touched my heart, the smell of her blouse which makes me to forget all those fragements of life, fragments of uncertainties and fragments of love. Automatically those things was defragmented by her soul, on that special day. That very special day.

This is just the end of the beginning.

How to be an Intelligent Person

by Azam

Unfortunately, intellectuals are a dying breed. An arts degree seems to be nothing more than promotion fodder from fry-flipper to shift manager. The class swot is ridiculed. Art galleries are ignored in favour of the latest Bruce Willis blockbuster. Many young curious mind dreams of finding a cure for cancer, and instead finds themselves locked in a corporate world attempting to find a toothpaste that whitens as well as fluorides.

Wanna tips on how to deal and refresh your modula oblongata (something like that) ?

First things first. Throw out your television (I only have 17 inch flat monitor). Well you don't have to go quite that far (you must), especially if its a nice one or you live with other people (just ignore, but not with the nice HBO channels). However under no circumstances watch anything on a commercial station. You may watch documentaries, British comedies (Mr Beans) or ... well that's it really. I'm sorry (because I dunno much).

Instead, your new spare-time passion must be books. About anything and everything - the more diverse, the better. Coffee-table books are important. Put National Geographic in the toilet for those long visits (pre-attempts with hot chilli peppers). With books, quantity is more important than quality, to begin with anyway. Go to a bookstore and buy as many books as you can afford. Secondhand is good because even if you never get around to reading it, it looks as if you have. Its important to have a few classics, even though most of them are completely boring (not with Tom Sawyer). With classics however, ideas are more important than plot - so go for "Das Kapital" over "Pride and Prejudice" (I never read any of these, muawahahaha), "The Republic" rather than "Steppenwolf" (imagine Huns and Gretel).

A hint for when you actually decide to read things - books that have been translated into English are usually a hell of a lot easier to read than English from the last couple of centuries (not with the English-Japanese trans though). Try reading a Shakespearean play to see what I mean. If you want to get really wanky you can try a couple of different translations of the same text and analyse the differences. Go back and re-read the books you were forced to do in school, they're usually quite good (not all though) when you're not being examined on them.

its good to know a little bit of background history about the author and when the book was written. Such things help you understand why the book was written, and exactly what the message is. And yes. To summarise - a lot about as many eclectic things as possible, and raid your parents' or high school bookshelf.

Scour your local paper for plays being performed. Don't see comedies (unless its Garfield or something). Same with art galleries, except there its the weirder the better. Buy glossy magazines about architecture and photography (pornography excluded).

Now that you have armed yourself with hoards of information completely irrelevant to the modern world, go out and flaunt it gratuitously. Apply the principles of "The Prince" to office politics, talk about the platonic ideal forms in relation to furniture design, the superiority of "beowulf" to any modern action movie. Even if nobody understands what the hell you're on about, you will get some respect for being a wanker who's a bit too smart for his own good, or something. I don't know. Muawahahaha.

Learn, think, and enjoy. That will do.
